The Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the authoritative Word of God. It alone is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths. In its original writing, it is inspired, Holy Spirit breathed, infallible and inerrant.
God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
His presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. The Holy Spirit guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.
Repentance is the commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Christ, which allows us to receive His redemption and to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Thus, through repentance we receive forgiveness of sins and appropriate salvation.
Sanctification is the ongoing process of yielding to God’s Word and His Spirit in order to complete the development of Christ’s character in us. It is through the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God that the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.
God is great. He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It is in Him that we live, move, and exist. God is good; He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.
Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. On earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind and thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory.
THE BLOOD OF JESUS
The Blood that Jesus Christ shed on the Cross of Calvary was sinless and is 100% sufficient to cleanse mankind of all sin. Jesus allowed Himself to be punished for both our sinfulness and our sins, enabling all those who believe to be free from the penalty of sin, which is death.
We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts.
We are unified by our common faith in Jesus Christ, drawn together with similar desires and hopes to catch a vision for a community in which synergy is ignited, faith and enthusiasm emerge, and relationships form to build something truly great.
At Thrive Community Church we think it’s huge to get to know and hang out with one another outside of church services. We believe we were designed to engage in quality relationships with others – cultivating friendships that are real and meaningful. We believe that accountability, belonging, care, and spiritual growth happen best with relationally-connected believers [Romans 12:5].
We believe God desires to have a close relationship with every believer. Through prayer, meditation, worship, and Bible study, we can pursue and achieve intimacy with the Father. We want to be a church that encourages and equips believers to pursue closeness with God.
We respond to a generous God, by being a generous people. We will be characterized by giving generously of our time, talents and treasures.
We are committed to communicating a timeless message in fresh ways. We will create a worship environment and culture that is refreshing so that people’s hearts would be renewed, inspired, and transformed.
We like to have fun. We believe that everything goes better with a smile, that God’s joy is our strength, and that laughter does the heart good like a medicine. The hope God gives should be celebrated, enjoyed and creatively expressed. Big time!!
Inspiring and equipping people to live, lead, and serve well. We bring a positive, whatever-wherever-whenever attitude to each opportunity to serve.
We believe that as Christ followers, being genuine with one another and the world is one of the best ways that we can truly experience freedom in Christ. We will love all people, accept all people, and lead them to truth in love. Plastic smiles and polite fakery should be far from us. Church should be the one place in a community where people can be real. In humility, we put ourselves in a great place to receive the joy and peace that can only come from Christ. (Col 3:12-17; Rom 12:9-21; 1 John 1:8-9)
Our goal is to pursue excellence in all aspects of church life in order to bring glory to God.We believe that giving our best brings honor to God and inspires people, so we are committed to excellence in everything we do.
Ricky and Melissa have been involved in ministry most of their lives. Little did they know, that time would be preparation time for what God was directing for them now.
In January 2015, they had a stirring in their hearts that God was calling them to step out and plant a new church. With much prayer and confirmation from the Lord, they began to act on what was placed within them. The city of Mount Airy was dropped in their hearts by God. Ricky actually began preaching at a church that his dad was pastoring in Flat Rock, just outside of Mount Airy, when he was 14 years old. He feels that he has always had a supernatural love for the city and believes that he is called back to continue a ministry that God began in him as a 14 year old teenager in Mount Airy. As Ricky and his family spent time in the area, they had peace and confirmation that they were right where God wanted them to establish a new life-giving church as they walked out the path set before them.
Ricky is an ordained minister. He and Melissa have been married since 2009 and have one daughter, Amelia.
